about the founder
Hello my name is Miriam and I get butterflies in my stomach when I think of public relations! I’m the Founder of Press Run, a public relations agency that has helped clients receive a tonne of media features and a million hits since 2015.
I moved to Asia in 2019 and pivoted my business in June 2019 online as a PR education business after being approached by several education groups asking if I could teach their cohorts about PR training for small businesses. It was then I also noticed there was a big trend on personal development and doing things yourself. So, I took the plunge and decided to teach instead. You live and learn, right?
I am an entrepreneur at heart, when I was 9 my two friends Sonia and Tommy and I used to pick lemons from local trees near our primary school after school. I would then sell the lemons at school and use the money to buy myself and my friends lunch at the canteens. My mother always wondered why I didn’t eat lunch sometimes or didn’t “need lunch” only to discover that I was somehow making money at school and buying my own food. My mother was surprised when I told her why I “didn’t need lunch today.” She didn’t expect her daughter to be so business minded at such a young age.
Fast forward to 2021, I am now the Founder of Press Run, a company that teaches students, entrepreneurs and professionals media literacy and how to do their own public relations. I have a background in finance and public relations and have worked for big companies and agencies in Australia such as ANZ Bank, National Australia Bank, Capgemini, Herald Sun, and Clemenger Harvie Edge (PR Edge).
I’ve worked with clients across the UK, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. And I was once an Ambassador for an all female business group, Like Minded Bitches Drinking Wine and helped grow the community from 250 members to over 50,000 members. It is now at 150,000+ members!
I manage a PR Community on Facebook known as the Press Run Community and we are just short of 90 members! I’ve worked with hospitality, music, fashion, event and technology clients. And I’ve helped small businesses reach traditional, print and online media.
We all have stories bubbling inside of us, we just need a little help getting it out there. Every person, every business, every community has a story worth knowing. This is where I come in.
I understand not everyone has the budget for big PR agencies which is why I’ve created online classes to teach entrepreneurs, students and professionals how to do their own PR and to empower them to share their incredible stories to their communities.
